In 1^st #siliguritweetup Me and Bastab (@bassyc) discussed a lot about Twitter-How it workrs,Twitter features for new tweeps.Trust me we were not exhausted . I always love to talk about twitter  features with friends though the fact is that I hardly get some friends who are interested about Twitter but I believe in place my Siliguri twitter will be a matter of interest  in near future and my friends close will become a “Twitterholic”. Twitter is the simple thing you can ever have after knowing its features-Veteran twitter users will love to agree with this.But for a new tweep It’s a complex thing to be with.This is my one small try to help them in a simple style.

1.what are you doing?- Its quite a strange thing but Twitter starts with this question and this is the most famous and often used question you always hear. So the update there is called a ‘Tweet’. Replies also count as a ‘Tweet’.In that place you can share your status updates and also links.

2.140- This is the amount of letter you can have in your each ‘Tweet’.But you must be thinking that How can I share a long web site link(url) in it. Don’t worry Twitter has a inbuilt url shortener (bi.ly).You can also try the sites like-bit.ly, tinyurl.com.But trust me some limitations in life are so enjoyable like this 140.

3.How to Give Reply or Mention tweeps: Just use the inbuilt reply button in your timeline to give reply to other tweep or use @username then your tweet to give reply.If you want use a tweeps name in your tweet then tweet mentioning  him/her  like:-  waiting for @username.Its a good practice.you can check your replies or mentions in the page in @username button

4.Direct Message(DM): Your mentions(or  replies) are open to your foll0wers.If you don’t want this then you can use direct Messages.You have to go to Direct messages option,from there you can easily browse user and send them private messages. You can only send DM to that tweep who is following you back.

5.Retweet(RT): RT i.e Retweet is the most interesting thing in Twitter.If you like other tweeps tweet then you can share that-without any modification in tweeps tweet and just mentioning the actual tweet for seeding or giving him/her credit.

Most used Retweet structure: RT @username : actual tweet or you can use via @username at the end of actual tweet.Good news is that inbuilt RT feature is coming up in the official site.

6.#tags and Trending Topics: #tag another interesting and unique thing about Twitter.If you want to make some word important use #before that word and if you can ask others to do the same then it becomes more easy to come in Twitter search engine like we putted # before siliguritweetup.When so many people uses #tag then it becomes a Trending Topic.In your home page 10 most trendy topic makes a entry.A word without a #hashtag can also become a trending topic.

7.Favorites: If you like a tweet or RT you can mark them as your favorites for further use.For this you have inbuilt star button in every tweet to mark them as your favorites.(You can only be able to see inbuilt reply and star button  in a tweet if only you move cursor to that tweet).

8.Mobile and Desktop Applications: There so many mobile and desktop applications you can use with inbuilt Reply,RT,DM options.Without any bias I am putting them in one place for you(not all).
